Water saving tip #11

By James Lombard   (2016-03-29)

Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios

Whenever it is practical to do so, a broom should be considered over a hosepipe for cleaning a driveway or patio.

Certain cases, like sticky substances or stubborn dirt stains, will undoubtedly required the use of water for cleaning, but then deliberate consideration should be given to how much water is used: Rather use a bucket than a hosepipe for tackling specific stains.

If you have a big driveway which takes too much time and effort to regularly sweep with a broom, rather clean it less often than frequently using a hosepipe.
